Boyband Redux: East 17
So here I was, randomly ambling about in the Bedok area after dinner at Botak Jones. Zhuang was telling me about this secondhand store around the block and we were looking for a sukiyaki/steamboat hot pot, so why the hell not?
Apparently this place was called Cash Converters and it's like a huge garage sale - basically random stuff for cheap. From $12 coffee makers, $2 skis to a box with some chinese dude with a bad toupee selling a gold pineapple back massager! But what really, really caught my eye was the rows of CDs. In no absolute order, I found Backstreet Boys' Millenium, Backstreet's Back and countless copies of Boyzone's Where We Belong, 911's The Journey and I thought I found the absolute kicker when I found 2 albums from PJ & Duncan! Wooohooo. But waaait. Hold your horses - 2 shelves below, I found Code Red and Caught in the Act! Like damn, I could basically start a business selling limited edition (fine - term "limited edition" is used loosely) boyband albums from the 90s.
Here's the best part - I found an album from East 17! Okay, most of you are probably going "who?!" Well, then you were definitely NOT a boyband fan. Beyond Take That, NKOTB, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, there's East 17! With some amazingly beautiful songs. Hahaha - so this is mainly for the girls who spent most of their pocket money on magazines just because it featured posters of their favorite boy bands. My fave East 17 songs from YouTube!
STAY ANOTHER DAY
I love this song, it's definitely on my list of all time faves! Sigh...beautiful lyrics!
Check out the Xmas version as well.
IT'S ALRIGHT
DEEP
ALL AROUND THE WORLD
HOUSE OF LOVE
LET IT RAIN
STEAM
Only in the 90s can you get away with lyrics like this - "You bring the body and I'll bring the steam"
