Fright Night trailer: The Doctor channelling Criss Angel?

Saw the first trailer to Fright Night a few weeks back and was wondering to myself why would someone remake an old B-grade movie. And honestly, Colin Farrell as a bad ass vampire is just one up from Colin Farrell as Bullseye. Read: Lame. Toss in Anton Yelchin (Chekhov from Abrams' Star Trek minus the accent) as lead, McLovin' as geeky sidekick and Toni Collette as the mom and it's a serious case of "huh?!"

Then -- this drops: David Tennant is in Fright Night and featured in the new trailer! if you're going "who?" just skip to the trailer and decide for yourself if Fright Night is worth watching but if you're like me going "Wooooo! The Doctor, The Doctor! Finally, more of him!" then read on.

Character poster of David Tennant playing Peter Vincent below, from Empire. There are other character posters besides David's, so pick up a copy for more. The Doctor with guy liner and rocker Vegas magician dabbling in the occult (Criss Angel anyone?) -- not sure how I feel about it, but at least there's one teeny reason to not just discount Fright Night as another blah summer flick.

Trailer here:

On a side note, any thoughts on Anton Yelchin joining the league of the anti-hero lead? We've got Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Cera, Aaron Johnson (who's a total hottie and mark my words, possibly the next Superman!) and now Anton Yelchin?
